Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has cast further doubt over Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey’s chances of recovering quickly from a muscle injury.
Partey has missed out on playing after getting injured as he prepared ahead of Arsenal’s Champions league game against Sevilla in Spain.
The Black Stars midfielder is also a serious doubt to compete in the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire for Ghana in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique in January next year.
Speaking in a pre game presser as The Gunners prepare to play Aston Villa on Saturday, December 9 at 17:30 GMT, Arteta touched on Partey’s injury situation stating,
“We don’t know, he’s getting a very good evolution in the injury but it’s a bit early to get a time frame. That would be incredibly fast if he’s able to do that, so we’re going to have to wait.”
Thomas Partey (5) will miss both games due to a muscle injury
Partey is in his fourth season with Arsenal after joining from Atletico Madrid but his impact as taken a serious hit due to consistent injury related absences and the sterling play of recently signed midfielder Declan Rice.
