Anokyi United were crowned champions of the 2023 Eikwe Ye Me F3 football gala after 9 days of fierce community rivalry.
Despite starting as favourites, the communities showed that, indeed they are historically home of the football in the coastal belt.
Anokyi United beat Baku United in a keenly contested final which was played at the Eikwe Astro turf on Christmas day December 25.
The game travelled to penalties, where the winners claimed a 4-2 victory having played out a 1-1 draw in regular time.
Polasty gave Baku the lead in the 55 minutes from a free kick before Stephen Akani snatched an equalizer late in the game through spot kick to draw Baku level, forcing the game into a penalty shootout which was eventually won by the latter.

The victorious team took to the street, amidst the tooting of horns and chanting.
For beating the remaining 10 communities to the trophy, Anokyi also took home GHC500.00, Set of jersey, Ball, Trophy and goodies from sponsors.
Meanwhile, home side Fanti FC settled for third place after beating Krisan 1-0.

In an attendance at the final were dignataries such as the chief of Eikwe, Nana Kofi Amihere |||, Obaahema Ahuma || and the organizers of the Eikwe Youth Development Planning Committee.

About Eikwe Ye Me F3 football gala
The gala was organized as part of activities to celebrate the community 50th anniversary of their festival called Eikwe Ye Me F3 ( Eikwe sweet me).
The gala is a 12-team football competition, each drawn from a separate community.
Targeted communities were host Eikwe, Krisan, Bakanta, Sanzule, Anokyi, Ngalekyi, Baku, Ewe and Fanti.
