Burkina, Cameroon, Nigeria follow Ghana’s path to camp in “cool” locations before “hot” AFCON

It turns out Ghana’s decision to set up camp in South Africa ahead of its run in the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire isn’t the most queer idea since a handful of nations have followed suit to camp in locations with cooler temperatures than the AFCON host country.

Ghana’s Black Stars will converge in Johannesburg on December 31 at a time the average temperature in South Africa rangers between 19 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius whereas the average temperature in Cote D’Ivoire ranges between 24 degrees Celsius and 32 degree Celsius.

However, the likes of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Nigeria, Zambia and Gambia have agreed to pitch camps in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Dubai and Abu Dhabi respectively.

Pre-AFCON camping so far:
Cameroon ???????? – Saudi
Gambia ???????? – Saudi & Morocco
Ghana ???????? – South Africa
Algeria ???????? – Togo
Mali ???????? – Mali
Burkina Faso ???????? – Abu Dhabi
Nigeria ???????? – Dubai
Guinea Bissau ???????? – Mali
Namibia ???????? – Ghana
Zambia ???????? – Saudi Arabia

All the aforementioned locations have cooler temperatures at this time of the year than in Cote D’Ivoire.

On the other hand, Namibia, Algeria and Mali are set to set to camp in locations that have similar temperatures to Cote D’Ivoire’s.

Mali is set to camp in Mali, Algeria is set to camp in Togo and Guinea-Bissau is set to camp in Mali.
