A comprehensive research by Domesticsportsgh.com’s writer Samuel Evans Enyan, has thrown up some interesting names and numbers about how much top coaches leading their teams to the 34th Edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast are earning.

With just a week to start the continent’s flagship showpiece, the attention has always been on Victor Osimhen, Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah, Kudus Mohammed and other superstars going in to the tournament.

But this article surprising turns the attention to the technical heads of various countries and a we look at the Top 15 highest paid coaches ahead of the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast this weekend.

The 15 highest paid coaches of the next Africa Cup of Nations which takes place in Ivory Coast has a total $1.2M dollars ( €925,737) in monthly salary according to our research.

These monthly salaries, at least some of them regardless of sporting results are beyond belief in a continent considered the poorest on the planet.

Cape Verde, Mozambique, Namibia and Mauritania have the lowest paid coaches among all the 24 Nations at the AFCON 2023.

But statistically the two extremes of the 15 highest paid earners, are the coach of Guinea-Bissau Baciro Cande, who has an improved monthly salary of $9,860 and that of Algerian top notch coach Djamel Belmadi credited with a whooping salary of $227,000 per month as currently the highest paid coach in Afcon 2023.

However, the Black Stars coach Chris Hughton is ranked amongst the highest earners heading to Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations with a reported $600,000. per annum ( $50,000 per month).

One would have taught that Morocco coach Walid Regragui or for that matter, Aliou Cisse, manager of defending African champions Senegal, would occupy the top spot.

But it not either of them or host nation’s coach Jean-Louis Gasset of Ivory Coast which takes home $118,000 a month.

Here are the coaches with the highest salaries at AFCON 2023.( $ in Dollars)

1 – Djamel Belmadi (Algeria) – 227,000 dollars per month

2 – Rui Vitoria (Egypt) – 219,000 dollars per month

3 – Jean-Louis Gasset (Ivory Coast) – 118,000 dollars a month

4 – Walid Regragui (Morocco) – 65,000 dollars per month

5 – Hugo Broos (South Africa) – 54,000 dollars per month

6 – José Peseiro (Nigeria) – 50,500 dollars per month

7 – Chris Hughton (Ghana) – 50,000 dollars per month

8 – Aliou Cissé (Senegal) – 49,000 dollars per month

9 – Sebastien Desabre (DRC) – 41,301 dollars per month

10 – Kaba Diawara (Guinea-Conakry) – 32,000 dollars per month

11 – Rigobert Song (Cameroon) – 31,770 dollars per month

12 – Tom Saintfiet (Gambia) – 24,980 dollars per month

13 – Pedro Gonçalves (Angola) – $20,800 dollars per month

14 – Jalel Kadri (Tunisia) – $12,000 dollars per month

15.Baciro Cande- $9,861 dollars a month- Guinea Bissau.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

The tournament has 24 participating teams compared to 16 previously.
