Nigeria defender William Ekong-Troost says the Super Eagles will face a tough challenge against the “host nation” Ivory Coast in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations ( AFCON).
The Dutch born defender also admitted that, his side were unlucky in their opening group A game against Equatorial Guinea.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Greek based defender stated that, Ivory Coast are very experienced side and play with massive attendance.
” For sure they are very tough opposition, and the game will be tough as well”.
Despite reconizing the tough challenge, Ekong-Troost believes his side will be victorious.
“We will do our best, because we need the points and I believe we will get it” he added.
Nigeria play Ivory Coast in a keenly contested Group A game at the Stade Alassane Quattara in Abidjan on Thursday.
