The Ghana Football Association has issued a crucial update on the status of Majeed Ashimeru’s injury.
The midfielder was substituted in the second half after sustained an injury during the group B match against Egypt on Thursday and has since undergone assessment.
According to the Ghana FA’s assessment, Majeed Ashimeru has exhibited noteworthy progress in his recovery from the injury incurred in the first half of the aforementioned game. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the fact that he was subsequently substituted in the second half, indicating the severity of the knock.
The FA states: “He was thoroughly assessed by the medical team after the game with further checks carried out on Friday. The medical team is confident about the progress made and will continue to assess him Saturday afternoon before training.”
Majeed Ashimeru, a consistent force for Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, started in the initial two matches against Cape Verde and Egypt.
His potential absence from the upcoming game would be a significant blow to the team, as he stands on the brink of making his third consecutive appearance.
