Lawmakers in football, Ifab, on Friday, will make an announcement about their plan to experiment sin-binning players and awarding blue cards.
Although sin-bins have been used in the English lower level to suppress offensive objections, they might also be used to punish cynical fouls.
A referee would give a player a blue card, and they would then spend ten minutes in the technical area.
The commencement date of the trial and the competitions it will include are still unknown.
Football’s international governing body Fifa declared that “reports of the so-called ‘blue card’ at elite levels of football are incorrect and premature,” and the Premier League has already stated that it will not participate in the trial’s initial implementation.
