The National Sports Authority, under the leadership of Professor Peter Twumasi, has disclosed that it actually received the amount of GH₵169,090 from Burniton Music Group.
The Parliament of Ghana’s Public Account Committee called for a special audit of the National Sports Authority following its appearance on February 5, 2024.
When questioned by the committee, Prof. Twumasi, the Director-General of the National Sports Authority, acknowledged receiving GH₵70,000 from Burniton Music Group.
Sam ‘Dzata’ George, MP for Ningo-Prampram, revealed after the sitting that he had evidence the NSA received more than the Director-General confirmed.
“I asked the Director-General (Peter Twumasi) if GH₵70,000 had been paid to the accounts for that event, and he confirmed that yes, GH₵70,000.”
“I asked him if it was sufficient for the return of the pitch or any damages to the pitch, but he did not answer. But post-event, I have now gotten the contract that the NSA signed with the Burniton Music Group, and I’ve gotten receipts of payment.”
“It was not GH₵70,000. It was GH₵169,000. But it was paid in three instalments: GH₵70,000, GH₵70,000, and GH₵29,000.”
In an official press release, the NSA said that Burniton Music Group had paid them GH₵169,090 in three installments for the use of the Accra Sports Stadium for Stonebwoy’s Fifth Dimension event in December.
“NSA wants the public to note that the contract signed on 20th September, 2023 between Burniton Music Group required a total payment of GHS 169,090 made up of GHS 110,000 user fee, GHS 24, 090 VAT, and GHS 35, 000 sanitation and maintenance. The Group made full payment in three (3) installment: GHS 70,000 on 26th September, 2023, GHS 70, 000 on 11th December 2023, and GHS 29, 090 on 8th January, 2024.
