The Chief Executive Officer of MD Car Sales and Rentals Mohammed Dramani has voiced his concern over the current state of football in Sekondi-Takoradi, emphasising the need for immediate reform.

The business tycoon is worried about the dwindling fortunes of the Sekondi-Takoradi in recent times, stressing that football is “dead” in the area hence the enthusiasm of the people to jump in to support teams outside the district.
There is a growing disinterest in football with top club like Sekondi Hasacaas struggling to qualify to Ghana’s second tier competition and perhaps Ghana Premier League.
Speaking in an interview with Takoradi based Skyy Power FM’s Phillip Kobina Inkoomsah, Mohammed Dramani raised the issue of lack of investment in our football which has occasioned poor patronage of the local league.
He called for a focus on rejuvenating youth football in the area, highlighting the need to rebuild the colts teams for a smoother transition citing examples of Kumasi and Greater Accra.
“It’s very sad, our two big clubs are struggling to qualify for the first division, Football in Takoradi is dead we need to revive it”,
” At first football in Sekondi- Takoradi- was the best in the region, but now everything has scattered, we have to travel to Cape Coast, Daboase, Tarkwa, Nzema, Bibiani and Samreboi to watch Premier League and First Division, this is very sad, All the Stakeholders need to come on board to revive it”, he added.
Dramani also want the relevant stakeholders to support our clubs especially Eleven Wise who recently secured qualification to the Division One as well as Sekondi Hasacaas who are still struggling in the Division Two to qualify.
Comparing the standard of football during their days, he opined that football in Sekondi-Takoradi is dead but can be revived with proper investment.
Dramani’s concerns align with a growing chorus of voices including Joe Hendrich, Johnson Smith and Bismark Kobi-Mensah, who echoed similar concerns as reported earlier by Domesticsportsgh.com.
