The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is finally underway.
The off-season friendlies was a great way for clubs to prepare for the season, but the focus now switches to the return of the club football and the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
After the match day one, we witnessed lots of surprises, newcomers Basake Holy Stars winning against Hearts of Oak at Accra Sports Stadium and Kotoko opening the season with a hard fought victory in the far away Nalerigu against Karela United.
Samartex go into the season as defending Champions having edged the title race by 10-points last season over runners up Accra Lions.
When Asante Kotoko finished 6th in the 2023/24 season, some believed it was a one off campaign and they’d be unable to match it. But the most successful club in the league have shown in the match day one that they are ready to keep pushing for another title.
Hearts of Oak on the other end, need at least some funds for major potential incomings to turn things around.
The Phobians are still in transition and might witness another bad season looking at how they are playing and approaching matches.
The question is, can Samartex make it twice in a row?
