Ghana is set to host its upcoming “home” game against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers away from home after CAF withdrew its approval of the Baba Yara Stadium to host Category 3 games over the stadium’s poor facilities.

Banning the Baba Yara means that Ghana is without a stadium to host games of such category after the Accra Sports Stadium and Cape Coast Stadium failed to also make the cut. All three stadia have been closed for renovation.

However, Ghana is in line to play the qualifier in Cote D’Ivoire due to Togo having just one stadium that meets CAF’s grade that is due to host a 2025 qualifier against Algeria on October 15.

Ghana’s “home” game against Sudan is scheduled to take place on October 11 and this means the turnaround in qualification games would be too quick for the Stade de Kegue to have a quality pitch for Togo to host Algeria.
