Heart of Lions all-conquering hero Kwadwo Obeng Jr. has revealed he holds no bitter feelings against his former club, Accra Hearts of Oak.

The 25-year-old moved to Kpando Heart of Lions after heart-to-heart conversations with head coach of the club, Bashir Hayford, and chairman, Dr Randy Abbey, before the start of the 2024-25 season.

Many football enthusiasts were on the common feeling that Obeng Jr. was unfairly treated by Hearts prior to his exit.

The former Nea Salamina player was pained by how he was pushed out of the club despite pledging his future to the Rainbow club, where he won six trophies.

Obeng Jr. seemed to have hit form since moving to the Volta side, displaying delectable football, and scoring the winner against Asante Kotoko away at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday in a matchweek nine encounter.

In an interview with Nana Darkwa Gyasi on Max FM, the player insisted he has forgiven Hearts of Oak for how they let him go.

“No. I do not regret playing for Hearts of Oak, and I will never say that anywhere. I will never say that. Hearts were the first family I joined, but due to one or two things I had to leave.

It’s life. Sometimes you leave so others come. I will never tarnish their name. The club helped me.

I was pained by how I was pushed out, but I have forgiven them,” he said.

Obeng Jr. would be targeting more goals after opening his account for the season and ending Kotoko’s unbeaten run at home this season.
