Ahead of the 2024/25 South African Professional Soccer League ( PSL), Chairman of the league board has officially announced a whooping prize money for the season.

According to the PSL boss Irvin Khoza, the winner of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership will receive $1.13million USD which is currently the highest in Africa.
The PSL entered the new season with a new sponsorship after parting ways with DSTV.
Our current data also shows Moroccan Botola Pro, comes second with $598,000 USD, Egyptian Premier League, Tunisian Ligue Proffesionnelle and Tanzania’s Ligi Kuu Bara complete the top 5 with an amazing prize money.

In the top 10, African most populous country, Nigeria, are in the top 10 along with Ethiopia, Algeria, Cameroon and Botswana.

Some African top leagues like Zambia Premier League, Uganda Premier League, Sudanese league, Kenya PL and Ghana Premier League remain in the top 20 according to our current data.
The biggest mover among the group is Eswatini $60,000 USD, this is an increase from $53,000 and $55,000 that was given in the previous campaigns.
In Ghana, the winner of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier was given GHC500,000 ( $26,400) which was an unprecedented gesture in the history of the West African nation.
Ghana is currently ranked 15th African league with highest prize money of ($ 26,400) ahead of Zimbabwe, Togo, Benin, Zambia, Senegal, Mozambique, Niger, Guinea, Mauritius, Guinea Bissau, Gambia and Mali.

Our 2024/25 edition, also shows that, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Chad, Namibia, Somalia Djibouti, Soa Tome, Seychelles, Comoros, Zimbabwe are the leagues with the least prize money in Africa.
