This follows the completion of the second phase of the project, after the National Youth Authority released funds to the project contractor.

An eight lane athletics track envelopes the FIFA standard-sized pitch at the resource center in Wa.

Habkay Enterprise, the construction firm in charge of the project, has completed the eight-lane athletic track, a football pitch, stands with a seating capacity of up to five thousand spectators, and courts for tennis and basketball.

Work on the project stalled nearly a year after the contractor, downed tools over the National Youth Authority’s inability to meet contractual obligations.

In July this year, however, the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF) finally released the 2023 first-quarter funds to the NYA.

Since receiving payment, the NYA has cleared all outstanding debts owed Habkay Enterprise.

In all, GH₵13,298,809 has been paid for the Resource Centre in Wa.

Although there is an outstanding contract sum of GH₵664,940.45, it will only be due for payment after the next phase of the project has been completed.

When commissioned, it will become only the second of the Youth Resource Centers to be handed over, six years after they started.

The first to be completed was the Koforidua Stadium, which has now been converted to a multi-purpose sports center. It was handed over in December 2023.
