The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has provisionally lifted the three-year ban imposed on 26-year-old striker Solomon Safo-Taylor by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee.

This temporary relief enables the former Asante Kotoko and Karela United forward to return to professional football as he awaits the final decision on his appeal.

The initial ban, handed down on April 15, 2024, was due to accusations of double registration and document falsification, which affected his contract with Asante Kotoko.

Safo-Taylor formally challenged the decision on November 6, 2024.

On December 4, 2024, CAS issued a provisional ruling in his favour, signed by Dr. Elisabeth Steiner, Deputy President of CAS Appeals Arbitration Division.

The ruling reinstates his player license and permits him to participate in football activities during the arbitration proceedings.

This decision also temporarily nullifies the GFA Appeals Committee’s confirmation of the ban on May 29, 2024.

The final determination of costs related to the interim order will be made after the arbitration process concludes.

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) expressed satisfaction with the outcome, calling it “positive news” in an official statement.

The PFAG acknowledges the provisional ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) lifting the ban on Solomon Safo Taylor and reinstating his license. The case is ongoing, and the player, with support from PFAG, is now able to continue his career.#pfaghana pic.twitter.com/pDmsbuDZBo
