Kofi Adams, who is set to face the Appointments Committee in Parliament as part of his vetting process, has been making notable public appearances in recent days. He was recently spotted at the GHALCA Elections and the 49th edition of the SWAG Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center.

Reports indicate that Kofi Adams’ vetting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29. If approved, he will become Ghana’s 28th Sports Minister since the position was first instituted in 1978.

Reacting to his nomination, Delphina Quaye expressed her willingness to collaborate with Adams to advance swimming in Ghana. She candidly admitted that she is not very familiar with him but affirmed that the swimming fraternity is prepared to work with the new Minister-Designate to take the sport to greater heights.

In recent years, the swimming fraternity in Ghana has been making impressive strides, producing exceptional talents who continue to elevate the sport on both local and international stages.

It all began with Abeiku Jackson, widely regarded as the beacon of Ghanaian swimming. His success has inspired a new generation of swimmers, including Harry Stacey and Joselle Mensah, who proudly represented Ghana at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Emerging stars such as Nubia Adjei, Michael Arthur Crabbe-Man, Oduma Agyei, Sammens Williams Debrah, Naima Kankam, and Mercedes Abdallah are also making waves and showcasing immense potential.

At the 13th African Games, swimming was one of Ghana’s standout sporting disciplines, earning recognition for its remarkable performances. This momentum continued at the Africa Aquatics Championships, hosted at the state-of-the-art Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, where Ghanaian swimmers showcased their talent on home soil.
