The protest was initially scheduled for Wednesday, 5th February 2025 but was postponed due to security reasons aimed to demand the removal of Dr. Asante from the office and call for the appointment of an Nzema native as the new CEO.

According to the new letter addressed to the District Commander of the Ghana Police Service in Esiama, the protest will come off on Wednesday 12, February 2025, and will begin at 9:00 AM from Alla-Bokazo to the Gas Complex. The group is requesting a police presence to ensure security and order throughout the demonstration.

The lead convener, Kabutey Jonas, emphasize that the Nzema people have been sidelined in leadership roles, despite their region being central to Ghana’s oil and gas industry. They believe appointing an Nzema as CEO would promote fairness and representation.

The Concerned Youth of Nzema is urging the government and relevant authorities to address their demands and ensure equitable leadership in Ghana Gas.

Meanwhile, in an interview with West End Radio Hard Tackle Sports, Jonas Kabutey, said, the demonstration was postponed due to security reasons and will come off on Wednesday February 12, 2025.

” We are supposed to embark on the demonstration on February 5, but it was rescheduled due to security reasons, but everything is set for us to protest on February 12″, he explained.

“My brother, we have made effort, the man himself has resigned but we are still on it, We have served the Ghana Gas official letter, we have done the follow up earlier today, so we are on course, We are not against any personalities but due to our current predicament in the Ghana Gas operational area, we need a native person to understands our needs because we are suffering”

“Just imagine, our youth, schools, and even our football clubs, they are financially unsounded, Ghana Gas are not performing their cooperate social responsibilities, so our Premier top clubs are suffering….we need an Nzema person who can help us through all sectors including Sports”, he added.

Reports have also been whispered to our ears that, Eng.Lartey has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive officer of Ghana Gas after the reported resignation of Dr.Ben Asante.
