A Division One League fixture between Hohoe United and Attram De Visser was marred by violence as chaos erupted at the Tuba Astro Turf following the final whistle.

The match, which ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for the home side, Attram De Visser, saw tensions boil over among supporters; especially from the visiting Hohoe United fans- who were reportedly infuriated by a series of controversial decisions made by the referee.

Eyewitnesses described heated exchanges that escalated into physical altercations, with fans from both sides embroiled in the conflict. Security personnel were called in to restore order, but not before the situation had turned chaotic.

This incident comes less than six months after the tragic death of popular football supporter Nana Pooley, who lost his life during a similar altercation at a local match; raising fresh concerns about safety and crowd control at lower-tier games in Ghana.

No serious injuries or fatalities have been reported in this latest incident, Police quickly intervened to manage the disorder and restore calm. The team and staff are safe and secure at their accommodations. Supporters were safely escorted to their buses.

The Division One League, which plays a critical role in Ghana’s football development pipeline, has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years due to a string of security-related incidents.

Attram De Visser’s narrow win keeps them 9th place as Hohoe United on the Cusp of Premier league Football but the spotlight will now shift to how authorities respond to the growing trend of violence within the league.
