Ogum, who rejoined the Porcupine Warriors in July 2023, was dismissed after a poor run of form in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, during which the team went four games without a win.

In an interview with GhanaSportsPage, Gyamfi was candid in his assessment, revealing that the coach had lost the dressing room and created a toxic atmosphere among the players.

“With what I hear from the dressing room, there are a lot of issues between the players and the coach, as some reports had suggested earlier,” he said.

He went on to criticize Ogum’s approach to man-management, pointing out that a coach’s attitude plays a significant role in a player’s motivation. Gyamfi explained that a coach who insults players, calling them “uncivilized,” could break their spirits and hinder their performance.

“As a footballer, when your coach commends you in training and encourages you to work harder, even after mistakes, it builds your confidence. But when insults are used, it has a negative impact,” Gyamfi stated. “It was better for him to leave.”

Gyamfi also took issue with Ogum’s recruitment strategy, suggesting that despite signing a number of new players, the team’s underlying issues remained unaddressed.

“If I had the power, I would have sacked him long ago. He signed a lot of players, but the problems still persisted,” he added.

Following Ogum’s departure, Asante Kotoko appointed Karim Zito as the new head coach, in hopes of turning the team’s fortunes around.
