The Administrative Manager of Division One League side, Sefwi All Stars, Augustine Boah, has confirmed that two clubs from their zone have filed protest against them for fielding an unqualified player.
In their petition, the two clubs accused the Sefwi based club of fielding an unqualified player for the encounters.
Derrick Frimpong Manso who started the match for the Western North based club against Nzema Kotoko and UCC Youngsters has been accused by the aforementioned clubs of being ‘unqualified ‘ for the ties.
In an exclusive interview on West End Radio which was monitored by Domesticsportsgh.com, Boah responded to the alleged protest by the UCC Youngsters and Nzema Kotoko.
” it’s true, we have been served letter by the association and we have also sent our defence regarding the protest which were filed by the Nzema Kotoko and UCC Youngsters” In fact they questioned us for using an unqualified player in the person of our player Derrick Frimpong Manso who has been playing for us since 2022/23 football season”.
He added that they are comfortably waiting for the verdict from the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee.
” We won’t talk much on this matter so let us wait for the verdict which we are confident of it”, he added.
Sefwi All Stars are confident the player in question is duly registered and holds genuine documents regarding his registration.
Although, per article 33 of the Ghana Football Association Premier League Regulations, clearly indicate a team that commits such double registration or fielding an unqualified player will face punishable offence by forfeiture of a match where that team fielded an unqualified player.
Should accusations hold, Sefwi All Stars are set to lose 12 points from their accumulated points, which 6 of the points will be shared by the petitioners ( Nzema Kotoko and UCC Youngsters).
