BetPawa, headline sponsor of the Women’s FA Cup, has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to women’s football by awarding players with an instant double locker room bonus moments after the final whistle.
Each member of the winning team received GH¢800, credited directly to their mobile money accounts; a reward that added extra celebration to their on-field triumph.
Speaking after the final, Nii Armah Ashong-Katai, Communications Director at BetPawa, emphasized that the initiative is designed to keep players focused and motivated throughout the competition.
As a brand, we’re very excited about what we’ve witnessed yesterday. The players weren’t just celebrating their victory; they were thrilled to have received double the locker room bonus immediately after the game,” he said.

Ashong-Katai highlighted Faith Ladies’ goalkeeper, Anabel Bansah as a standout example of the program’s impact.
She took home a total of GH¢6,800, combining the team bonus with additional prizes for being named Best Player and Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
The concept of the locker room bonus began three years ago when BetPawa first partnered with local teams, looking for creative ways to directly support players.
We asked ourselves: if footballers are expected to give their all on the pitch, what can we do to support their efforts off it? That’s how the locker room bonus idea was born. And today, we are proud of what it has grown into
The initiative has received positive feedback from both football associations and players alike. BetPawa believes that by easing some of the financial burdens players face, they can better focus on developing their game.
We want to help develop football across Africa while promoting player welfare. The associations are happy, the players are happy; and so are we
Beyond Ghana, BetPawa’s locker room bonus program is also active in Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and several other African countries, as the brand works toward building a more player-focused football ecosystem.
