Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Director of Communications, Kwame Opare Addo, has stated that the club is attaching a ton of seriousness to the President’s Cup the team will compete in next month.
Hearts will battle archrivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko for the chance to win the 2025 President’s Cup; the event will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 6. Hearts are winless against Kotoko in the last five games.
Speaking at the launch of the competition in the presence of Director at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, William Katey and Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President, John Ansah, Opare Addo highlighted how serious the Phobia club is about the upcoming event.
“We are going to make sure that even though the team is on break; because we attach seriousness to this particular assignment, the team is going to get back [to training] on the 19th [of June] and start preparation to ensure that at the end of it all, we send the Hearts of Oak family back home [after the game] with positive news” Opare Addo said.
Hearts and Kotoko finished fourth and third respectively in the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League campaign and the GHALCA President clarified that the choice of participating teams is the prerogative of the sitting President of Ghana.
