The body was airlifted today, June 17, from Kotoka International Airport and is currently en route to Lagos, Nigeria, with a scheduled stopover in Lomé, Togo.

In a statement released by its Communications Directorate, the GBA extended heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians, the boxing community, journalists, and media outlets for their steadfast support and solidarity since the incident.

The Boxing Authority also assured the public that it will continue to provide updates regarding the arrival of the body in Nigeria and the upcoming funeral arrangements.

In preparation for the final rites in Lagos, the GBA has assigned two key representatives, Gideon Hassen Appiah, a member of the GBA Board, and Lateykwei Lartey, Head Coach of Fit Square Boxing Gym. The pair traveled to Nigeria in advance of the body’s arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

GBA President Abraham Kotei Neequaye revealed that the Authority has sent $3,000 to its representatives in Nigeria. The amount comprises a $1,500 purse contributed by Gordon Frimpong, CEO of Osibor Boxing Management, and an additional $1,500 donation from the GBA.

The full amount is to be presented to the President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) as the GBA’s contribution to support the family of the late boxer.
