Ghana will face Algeria in the quarter finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations ( WAFCON) on Saturday July 19.
The Black Queens sealed qualification from Group C with an emphatic 4-1 win over Tanzania on Monday, finishing second in the group with four points- level with Mali but ahead of goal difference.
It marks Ghana’s returns to the knockout stage for the first time since 2016 and deserved a reward for their attacking revival following a sluggish start to the campaign.
Kim Lars Bjonkegeren’s side had opened the group with 2-0 loss to South Africa before letting a lead slip in a 1-1 draw with Mali.
Black Queens responded in style against Tanzania, with goals from Princilla Adubea, Alice Kusi, Evelyn Badu and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah powering them into the last eight.
Their reward is a quarter final clash with Algeria on Saturday at the Berkane Municipal Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 17:00GMT .
Algeria finished top of Group B, edging Nigeria on goal difference after securing seven points from three games.
