Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampoful Ankrah, has confirmed that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi is currently not in a suitable condition to host the upcoming 2025 Ghalca Top 4 tournament.
The Preseason competition, set for August 20-24, is expected to feature Ghana Premier League champions Gold Stars FC, Hearts of Lions, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Although Kumasi has been earlier announced as the venue, that decision is now under review due to the stadium’s condition.
At this moment, the stadium is not ready, and we have told Ghalca. They are aware”, Ampoful Ankrah revealed in an interview with Sporty FM.
” We will meet next week and see. we’ll be in Kumasi to assess the situation and determine what needs to be done.
He cited financial constraints as the main hurdle getting the revenue ready in time.
The bottom line is money. If we had a million Ghana cedis or million dollars today, we could get to work, he stated.
With just under one month to kick off, the future of the 2025 Ghalca Top 4 tournament at the Baba Yara Stadium remains uncertain, pending next week’s site inspection and further discussions between the National Sports Authority (NSA) and Ghana League Club Association ( GHALCA).
