The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as the new Head of Coach Education, replacing Desmond Ofei in a move aimed at revamping its technical leadership.
Dr. Ogum, formerly head coach of Asante Kotoko and WAFA, will also take charge of Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets. His dual appointment reflects the GFA’s drive to strengthen both grassroots football and local coach development.
Desmond Ofei, who previously held the role, was acknowledged for his impactful work, particularly leading the U-20 side to a silver medal at the WAFU Zone B Championship, securing a spot at the 2025 U-20 AFCON.
In his new capacity, Dr. Ogum will oversee coach training, certification, and the implementation of modern coaching standards nationwide. His leadership comes at a crucial time as Ghana gears up for the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Nigeria.
The GFA expressed confidence that Dr. Ogum’s rich coaching experience and academic insight will positively influence Ghana’s technical framework across all levels.
