Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has announced a major broadcast overhaul for Ghana’s top football leagues, with plans to introduce coordinated radio commentary from the 2025/26 season.
Speaking at the 31st Ordinary Congress, Okraku revealed that the GPL will benefit from a new partnership with Adesa Productions Limited, backed by the government, to deliver top-level television production and improved commercialization.
“This partnership will not only bring in top-level TV production of our league, but also reward the people who have sacrificed a lot,” he said.
As part of the deal, each of the 18 Premier League clubs will receive a minimum of GH¢1 million before the start of the new season. The initiative will also include heavy investment in the promotion and marketing of the GPL.
Okraku further disclosed that the model will be extended to radio, with synchronized and professional commentary for the Ghana Premier League, Division One League, and Women’s Premier League.
Beginning the 2025/26 football season, we will have a well-synchronized and coordinated radio commentary for our GPL, DOL, and WPL. This will bring clarity, professionalism, and create decent content for our consumers,” he noted.
The move aims to enhance the listening experience for fans, strengthen league branding, and boost the overall marketability of Ghana football.
