Brazilian defender Eder Militao has been ruled out for up to four months after suffering a serious hamstring injury while playing for Real Madrid.
The former Porto defender was in Xabi Alonso’s starting lineup against Celta Vigo on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Militao went down injured around the 21st minute following a defensive action and was unable to leave the field on his own.
The player required assistance from the medical staff to leave the field, as he was replaced by German star Antonio Rüdiger.
Following medical tests, Real Madrid confirmed that Militao has a rupture of the left biceps femoris with involvement of the proximal tendon.
The club noted that his recovery will be monitored closely, with updates to follow as his condition evolves.
