The Parliament of Ghana is set to officially launch the third edition of the Democracy Cup, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting national unity and democratic values through sport.
According to a statement issued by the Parliamentary Service, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will lead the launch at a ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 GMT.
The event will take place at the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium within Parliament House in Accra.
The statement noted that this year’s launch is expected to mark another milestone in what has become one of Ghana’s symbolic sporting initiatives.
Since its inception, the Democracy Cup has evolved into a platform that combines football with governance, reinforcing national identity while encouraging civic responsibility. Organisers say the competition continues to harness the unifying power of sport to promote peaceful coexistence and social cohesion across the country.
The upcoming ceremony is expected to draw a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, Members of Parliament, representatives from the sporting fraternity, corporate partners, sponsors, and members of the diplomatic community.
