CAF Champions League: Kaiser Chiefs vs Ahly match officials revealed

Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Champions League final tie against defending champions Al Ahly will be officiated by Burundian referee Pacifique Ndabihawenimana.

The once tie will be played at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca on July 17.

Ndabihawenimana is a 36-year-old whistle man who has officiated in various competitions across the continent including the AFCON finals along with fixtures in both the Champions League and Confederation Cup.

He has also been involved at the Under-20 FIFA World Cup.

The last time that the Burundian referee officiated a Chiefs was in Dar es Salaam against Simba when AmaKhosi lost 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the same tournament.

He was also in charge of Chiefs’ game away at Petro Luanda which finished goalless.

Ndabihawenimana has also handled Mamelodi Sundowns’ Champions League games in previous years.

Running the lines as assistant referees for the July 17 final will be Elvis Guy Noupue Nguegoue as first assistant with Dick Okello of Uganda as the second assistant.

The fourth official will be Eric Arnaud Otogo Castane from Gabon with Cameroonian Aboubakar Alim Komate as the match commissioner while his fellow countryman Divine Evehe Raphael will be the referee assessor.

Moroccan Jiyed Redouane will be the video assistant referee assisted by Zakaria Brinsi and Bouchra Karboubi.

At stake in the final will be the prizemoney of USD2,5 million (approximately R36 million), the Champions League trophy plus a ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup.
