REPORT: Karela, Nzema Kotoko and two other clubs to participate Kwame Nkrumah Birthday Cup
Ahead of this year celebration of Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday, the Organizers of the Nkroful Event Management Committee has reportedly contacted some Nzema-based clubs to participate the upcoming event which is slated to come on, Sunday 19th September, 2021.
Domesticsportgh.com can confirm that, Karela United, Proud United, Nzema Kotoko and Medeama SC will play the memorial Cup as part of the activities to mark Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah birthday birthday.
The Nkrumafest Cup was first played in 2015 between Nzema Kotoko and Medeama SC which ended 1-0 for the Red Armies side, the second edition saw Karela United beating Kotoko to win the trophy in 2016.
Kwame Nkrumah born on (21 September 1909) was a Ghanaian politician, political theorist, and revolutionary. He was the first Prime Minister and President of Ghana, having led the Gold Coast to independence from Britain in 1957. An influential advocate of Pan-Africanism, Nkrumah was a founding member of the Organization of African Unity and winner of the Lenin Peace Prize from the Soviet Union in 1962.
