The Confederation of African Football has moved the draw for the playoffs of the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup to January between 22 and 26, 2022.
This conclusion was reached at Caf’s 13th Extraordinary General Assembly in Egypt today, Friday, November 26.
The draw was expected to be done today but a resolution has been reached to conduct the draw in January.
However, the traditional home and away ties have been maintained after it was reported a change to one-off games was on the cards.
The ten teams to participate in the playoffs have already been confirmed after the last group stage fixtures were cleared earlier this month.
The ten teams will be drawn against each other, with the winners of the ties booking a place at the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar.
Fifa President Gianni Infantino has also hinted there will be Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during the playoffs.
