Following Al Ahly’s third-place finish at the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday, their prize money for the impressive feat has reportedly been revealed.
CAF Champions League holders Al Ahly secured a bronze medal for a second consecutive year after their historic 4-0 victory over Asian giants Al Hilal.
The result ensured that Pitso Mosimane is now the most successful African manager in CWC history, while the Red Devils also recorded their biggest-ever victory in the history in the tournament, according to Kingfut.
Per Sporting News, FIFA has confirmed that the total purse for the event is $16.5 million, which will be spread across the seven teams who took part.

The Egyptian giants are thus said to be set receive a fee of $2.5 million for coming third in the competition, while Al Hilal walked away with $2 million.
Tournament winners Chelsea are set to earn $5 million after they secured a 2-1 win over Palmeiras to win their first CWC on Saturday night.
The reigning Copa Libertadores champions and tournament runners-up will receive a substantial $4 million after narrowly missing out on the title.
