The Chief Executive officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amposah has appealed to government of Ghana to consider supporting Ghanaian clubs competing in Africa with $1million.
This he believes, will go a long way toward helping the clubs succeed in Africa.
Ghanaian clubs have consistently struggled to make an impact in Africa in recent years, even with qualification to the group stages in the Caf’s inter clubs competition even harder to come by.
Kotoko will compete in the 2022/23 CAF Champions League next season after clinching the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.
But according to Kotoko CEO, Ghanaian clubs can make a great impact in Africa if government comes to their aid.
“If the government of the day is able to devote 6-8 million dollars for Afcon for the Black Stars to go and represent Ghana, then why can’t government help a club like Kotoko or Hearts or whoever wins the league with a $1 million dollar support to go and lift high the flag of Ghana’ he told local media reporters after Porcupine Warriors secured the league title in Obuasi on Thursday.
