Ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Ivory Coast from 13th January to 11th February 2024, the Ivorian government has announced that the newly constructed stadiums at Yamoussoukro and San Pedro will be named after their prominent officials.
The newly constructed Yamousokro Stadium will be named Stade Charles Konan Banny, the former Ivorian politician who served as prime Minister from 7 December 2005 to April 4 , 2017.
Whiles San Pedro Stadium will also be named after Laurent Ndri Pokou. Pokou was a member of the Ivorian national team, who was twice the highest goal scorer of the Africa Cup of Nations, scoring six goals in the 1968 and Ethiopia and eight in the 1970 in Sudan including five in one match against Ethiopia, which Ivory Coast won 6-1.
CAF Has released dates for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Kick-off: 13 January 2024
Final: 11 February 2024.
