Medeama SC head coach Evans Augustine Adotey thanked “God, the Father” for his team’s first-ever league title after beating Tamale City in the final day of the Ghana Premier League.
Medeama secured a 3-0 win against Tamale City through Jonathan Sowah and Joshua Agyemang stunning strikes.
Wild celebrations met the final whistle as the Medeama clinched a first-ever Ghana Premier League title, ending Western Region’s 46-year old trophy drought.
The last time a representative from the coastal region won the Ghana Premier League was in 1977 when Sekondi Hasacaas won the title.
At a press conference afterwards, coach Adotey could not hide his delight: “First of all, I would like to thank God, the Father, for this moment and for everything in my life.” and also from the rising of the sun onto it setting” I will say the Lord’s name is to be praised”.He told Startimes.
Medeama SC have clinched the GPL and will be representing Ghana in next season’s flagship CAF Champions League competition.
