Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has vehemently denied the claims made against the administration led by Kurt Okraku, describing them as a “bunch of lies.”
Okraku, currently the GFA president, could potentially face an investigation from FIFA following a petition sent by sports enthusiast Akwasi Ossei Nkrumah to the world football governing body.
The petition accuses Okraku of potential and actual breaches of the FIFA Code of Ethics, citing forgery and falsification, conflicts of interest in GFA appointments, abuse of position, manipulation of matches or competitions, and duty of loyalty as the basis for the requested investigation.
In response to the allegations, Addo firmly dismissed them during an interview with Accra-based Asaase Radio. He stated, “If you put together a bunch of lies to sell them, I will not buy them. With my position, it was advertised, and a number of people applied for it, and I was awarded the role.”
Furthermore, Addo expressed confidence in his own abilities and highlighted that if George Afriyie, who contested in 2019 and has shown interest this year, were to assume the GFA presidency, he would have collaborated with Addo due to his recognised qualities.
He stated, “I know for a fact that if George Afriyie was to be in charge as the Ghana Football Association president, he would have worked with me because he knows my qualities.”
