Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu has completed a move to AS Monaco in the French ligue I, the club has announced.
The 24-year old has signed a five-year deal for Monaco after a successful medical on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
A club’s statement reads, “AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrival of central defender Mohammed Salisu from Southampton Football Club. The Ghanaian international, 24, has signed up for 5 seasons and is now linked with the Monegasque club.”
Salisu has joined AS Monaco on a €15million deal from Southampton who suffered relegation in the just-ended season of the English Premier League.
He had one year left on contract, and was not included in the Southampton squad for their pre-season friendlies against AZ Alkmaar on Saturday or Bournemouth on last Tuesday.
Salisu made his last appearance for Southampton in March and was left out towards the end of the season due to issues with his commitment and application in working back from injury.
He joined Southampton in 2020 for £10.9m from Spanish side Real Valladolid.
Salisu made 80 appearances in all competitions for the Saints over the course of three seasons at St Mary’s Stadium.
