Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has stated that his team’s sole focus is on its upcoming 2025 AFCON qualification game against Sudan on Thursday, October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana was on the brink of hosting the game outside its borders due to the lack of a CAF approved venue to host such international games.
However, quick renovation works at the Accra Stadium improved facilities to get CAF’s approval to host the crucial game which is the first of a double header against Sudan. The away contest takes place on October 15.
Responding to a question about the controversial issue of illegal mining (Galamsey) in water bodies that is threatening water supply in Ghana, Otto Addo described the situation as a serious problem but was quick to point out that his team’s focus is on Sudan and suggested that the issue could be addressed once the game was over.
It’s a very serious problem but we have to do and focus on our job. For us to be honest, it’s about focusing on Sudan and nothing else. After we win, then we can talk about every other topic.”
