For the deterioting Crosby Awuah Memorial Park to gain fresh life, the District Asembly and the relevant stakeholders have to cough out an estimated GHC350,000 ($25,000) for rehabilitation works.
Domestisportsgh.com understands that this was contained in a report last year by government engineering experts, Architectural and Engineering Services Limited ( AESL) on the extent of damage to the edifice during the GNPC era and their attempt to renovate the facility.
In October 2024, GNPC agreed to upgrade the turf to reach massive requirements by the Club License Board ( CLB) which would have allow Basake Holy Stars to use the park for its Ghana Premier League games, in that report, Ghc150,000 was captured for the upgrading of the pitch and other inner works.
The supposed work has been halted following the change of government for massive review and contract evaluations.
According to the latest development, the estimated budget for the project has gone up over 60% due to the current state of the pitch, VIP stand and other external works.
In our latest consultation with an expert from the Ellembelle District Assembly ( Engineering Services Department) regarding the cost to renovate the facility, they revealed that, the curent situation would cost any interested party an amount of Ghc350,000 and even more.
The facility have gone back to worst leaving the place as a death trap during our last visit.
Many concerned youth and the citizens of the area have added their voices including Nana Etwekpanyinli VI, the chief of Nzema Aiyinase.
