The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has entered into a new partnership with Adesa Production Limited (APL), a subsidiary of Media General, as part of efforts to strengthen the Ghana Premier League and retain top talent.
Under the agreement, each Premier League club will receive GHS 1 million before the start of the season. The GFA believes this financial support will provide clubs with a stable foundation, helping them to manage operations better and invest in player development.
With this move, the GFA hopes to minimize the continuous exodus of players from the local league by improving financial incentives and infrastructure. The initiative is also aimed at making the league more attractive to foreign players and potential investors.
In addition to the upfront support, clubs will benefit from performance-based payments, determined by their position on the league table at the end of the season. The GFA views this as a way to encourage healthy competition while boosting the league’s overall quality.
The deal with Adesa Production Limited, producers of the league’s live broadcasts, is expected to enhance visibility and commercial value. The GFA has also signed commercial agreements with LeLe Tasty Foods Ghana Limited and Kasapreko Company Limited to further support its development agenda.
