Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani GoldStars, Kwesi Adu, has backed Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to contest for office after his current term, insisting his work is far from complete.
The FA voted on Tuesday at the 31st Ordinary Congress to approve an extension of the GFA President term limits from two to three.
In Ghana Football administrative duties, a presidential term is four years and the new decision by the highest decision making body of football, the Congress means as president can hold the top position for twelve years.
Speaking on Akoma FM, Adu argued that Okraku’s leadership has revived Ghana Football after the turbulence that followed the 2018 Number 12 expose by investigative Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
“Before Kurt’s Okraku administration, the soul of Ghana football was dead. Considering the pieces he picked up, six years is even too short given what he has achieved”.
Instead, we should allow him to finalize the foundations he has started, so that when he eventually leaves office, whoever takes over will not struggle”.
Kurt Okraku is expected to run for a third term while maintaining his focus on his continental role as the second vice President of the Confederation of African Football ( CAF).
