Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo says he is confident Ghana can make history at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the current squad as one of the most united and determined in recent years.
The four-time African champions booked their place at next year’s tournament, their fifth World Cup appearance, after topping Group I with 25 points.
Ghana, who reached the quarterfinals in 2010 in South Africa, have since struggled on the global stage, exiting at the group stage in both Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022.
However, Sibo believes this generation has what it takes to rewrite the story.
“This team can really achieve big in the World Cup,” Sibo told JoySports.
“The [players] I’ve trained with are doing well at their various clubs in Europe.
“This team is more united, and when a team is united, it’s really hard to beat. We’re all together, making jokes, and that makes a team really strong,” he added.
The Real Oviedo midfielder has grown into a key figure for the national team, featuring prominently in recent games against Mali, Central African Republic, and Comoros.
Sibo is expected to make the final squad for the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, but first, he hopes to be part of Ghana’s squad for the Asian tour in November, where the Black Stars will face Japan and South Korea as part of their preparations for the global showpiece.
