Attram played a significant role during the qualifying campaign as Ghana secured her maiden FIFA World Cup ticket.

The former PSV Eindhoven midfielder was at the peak of his career prior to the tournament in Germany after scoring 13 goals to win the goal-king in the Saudi Arabian Premier League.

He was however omitted from the final squad as the four-time Africa champions managed to reach the second round of the competition finishing second in Group E behind Italy.

When asked if he holds any regret over his exclusion from the final squad-list, the 39-year-old affirmatively said no.

“I have never regretted not going to the World Cup (2006). It is a big stage but I went to the U17 World Cup in 1997 as well. If it is not meant to be, you cannot force it,” he said on Joy FM.

“Some of them went to the World Cup, where are they now?”

“Legends like Abedi Pele and Mohammed Polo won AFCONs but wanted one thing, to qualify the country to the World Cup. They were crying [when they couldn’t do it]. I helped the nation to qualify for the World Cup and I am happy with that.”

Attram represented the Ghana in 2006 African Cup of Nations. He clocked 10 appearances and scored 1 goal for the national team.
