Kaiser Chiefs release statement on CAFCL clash
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved Kaizer Chiefs’ proposal to postpone their Champions League clash against PWD Bamenda.
PWD initially contacted Chiefs to postpone the preliminary second leg clash scheduled for Friday afternoon at FNB Stadium after reportedly running into issues with their visas.
Amakhosi have now confirmed that CAF has agreed to the request to move the game by one day as they now await the arrival of the Cameroonian champions.
“CAF have approved our proposal to play the match on Saturday 05 December 2020. We await the team’s arrival. Kick-off is set for 18h00,” the statement read.
Gavin Hunt’s side hold a 1-0 advantage after Eric Matoho’s late away-goal in Limbe, which leaves them with one foot in the first round.
Despite their tags as favourites to advance, PWD coach David Pagou warned it won’t be a forgone conclusion as they look to shock their more illustrious opposition.
The winner of the tie will face up against Angolan Girabola giants Primeiro de Agosto for a place in the 2020/21 group stage of Africa’s elite club competition.
