Hervé Renard wants to lead Ghana to AFCON title
Former Ghana assistant Coach Hervé Renard is not ruling out a return to the Black Stars as head trainer.
Renard worked as the deputy Coach for the Black Stars during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The Frenchman during his time worked under countryman Claude Ley Roy hence had little role to play in the National team.
Having supervised two different countries to win the Cup of Nations title after leading Zambia and the Ivory Coast to the continental trophy, Renard is hoping to lead Ghana to yet another feat someday.
“Yes I have to come back one day to help one country to win, and that country haven’t won it for a long time,”and that’s is your Country ,Ghana, I will love to win this feat with the Black Stars ”
he spoke to TV3’s Juliet Bawuah.
Renard, nicknamed the ‘witch doctor’ had his first stint with African football when he was appointed an assistant coach to his former boss and fellow French man, Claude Le Roy for the Ghana national team. It was under the tutelage of Le Roy that he began to learn about African football and subsequently was appointed the first national team coach of Zambia in May, 2008.
