REVEALED: Why Ibrahim Imoro kissed the turf after scoring against Karela
Asante Kotoko defender Ibrahim Imoro returned to the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park and brilliantly kissed the turf after his goal against his former club.
The Porcupine Warriors broke the home invincibility of Karela United with 2-0 victory at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Ayinase on Sunday.
Goals from Ibrahim Imoro and Striker Kwame Opoku in the 39th minute and 61st minutes, respectively, secured the maximum points for Kotoko in a match which the bookmakers considered Kotoko as the underdogs, especially considering the facts that Karela United had remained unbeaten since 2016.
The left-back enjoyed a memorable career at Karela United from 2017-2019.
So, needless to say, his return is an emotional one, and surprisingly the player didn’t celebrated his goal and emotionally kissed the turf as a symbol to pay tribute to the late Senator Brigidi and entire Karela fraternity.
“ I was here and enjoyed a perfect career, I kissed the pitch to show my appreciation to all Karela family especially my late boss Senator David Brigid” Imoro revealed.
The victory catapulted Kotoko to the top of the league ladder for the first time with 23 points while Karela dropped to the third position with 22 points.
