Mamelodi Sundowns fans demand the second star after ‘La Decima’ feat
Sundowns secured ‘La Decima’ after snatching the league title from Kaizer Chiefs on the last day of last season in dramatic fashion.
The Brazilians currently have only one star after winning the CAF Champions League trophy in 2016 and now believe they deserve a second star below their badge to signify the winning of 10 Premiership titles in the PSL era.
Sundowns are currently in DR Congo for their Champions League match against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Saturday.
According to a source close to Sundowns, the club wrote to the PSL a few months ago for permission to add a second star on the yellow jersey for their unrivalled domestic exploits.
“The management is now under pressure from supporters, they want the second star on their jersey,” the source tells South Africa-based KickOff.com.
“The club is still waiting for permission from the PSL to add the star on their jersey for winning the league title 10 times.”
Efforts to get hold of senior Sundowns official Yogesh Singh to comment on the issue proved futile as he is out of the club due to The Brazilians’ CAF commitments in DR Congo.
