Nigerian star Iheanacho makes Premier League history
Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable form in front of goal this year by becoming the first-ever player to score on every day of the week in a single Premier League campaign.
Having failed to score a single league goal during the first half of the season, Iheanacho has been in inspired form for Leicester City since the turn of the year and netted his 12th goal of the campaign on Tuesday evening.
While his effort was not enough to prevent Leicester from suffering a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, it saw him write his name into the Premier League’s history books by becoming the first player to score on all seven days of the week in a season in the competition, according to Opta Sports.
He scored his first goal of the domestic campaign during a 2-0 win over Fulham on 3 February, and has added 11 more strikes to his tally in his past 11 appearances, including an incredible hat-trick against Sheffield United in March.
His impressive form in front of goal, which includes four goals in the UEFA Europa League and three more in the FA Cup, has seen him emerge as Leicester’s leading goalscorer this season with 19 goals across all competitions, four strikes ahead of Jamie Vardy.
