MTN FA CUP: Hasacaas captain talks tough ahead of Karela United clash
Abeiku Ainooson, a two time title winner of the MTN FA Cup has shared some nice words ahead of our Round of 64 game against Karela United FC on Tuesday at the Gyandu Park.
Hasmal continues to search for the second FA Cup title following 1985’s success when the Club scored two quick goals just after kick off courtesy Alabode Williams and Henry Acquah to beat Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Abeiku Ainooson, the two times MTN FA Cup Best Defender in 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 with New Edubiase and Asante Kotoko respectively, winning the title on both occasions has had some fine words to share ahead of Tuesday’s showdown.
Speaking to the Club Media, the Skipper, who’s regarded as the most successful individual in the last decade of the competition’s history, surmised – “it’s a tough draw for us. Karela United is a very good side, and even in the premier league, they are among the best teams so it’s not an easy game.
“Sometimes, underdogs win games sometimes when we work perfect on a match day, it can be done. We’ll have to give more than necessary to make it possible”.
“This competition is very different from the others. So, let’s see what happens on Tuesday”.
Center Back, Abeiku Ainooson is Hasmal’s top scorer for the 2020/2021 football season with 5 goals and has been the only player to have played full minutes in each of the 23 competitive games played thus far.
He’s won the Man of the Match Award three times in the process.
